Bank holiday weekend for Urban Squirrels' Natalia Doran and Pete Coleman was - why does the word "fragrant" come to mind first? It was also busy, inspiring, demanding, fruitful. Lush Cosmetics, Stratford Town, made Urban Squirrels the charity that benefited from their Charity Pot event.
The Charity Pot is basically a pot of (very good quality) hand and body lotion, and all the money from the sales of them, minus tax, goes to various charities - some human, some environmental, some animal. And last weekend the beneficiary was Urban Squirrels!
The staff educated themselves about grey squirrels and what we do for them, so that they could tell the customers all about it, as they offered them the opportunity to buy the lotion. It was suggested to us that it would be a good idea for us to come along as well, so there we were, with our roller banner, leaflets, and some of our own merch.
Pete and Natalia talked to a lot of people, gave out a lot of leaflets, and slapped a lot of lotion on customers from the trial pots. The final sum we raised is not known as yet, but it was well over £600! We, and the squirrels, are so grateful to Lush for their generous support!
OOOPS, WRONG COSMETICS COMPANY! :) BUT YOU GET THE IDEA: SUPPORT LUSH, THEY DO WONDERFUL THINGS FOR THE COMMUNITY!
